the end.
That initial touch of his slimy and against her forearm was enough of a motive to do what she really wanted to do to him. Cate has been studying effective ways to defend herself since she was a young girl. After all, she used to teach a self-defense class a few months ago until she was too busy to commit to a routine set time. She still managed to keep herself fit by going to the gym every other day and meeting with a trainer. He had picked the wrong person to pick on for today. All it took was him grabbing onto her arm to send her into motion. She didn't think about what she wanted to do. She just reacted.

She took her other arm and bent it so she could send her elbow into his gut. As he was startled by her blow to the stomach, she managed to twist her arm toward the right to break out of his hold. The man visibly shook at the image of this seemingly helpless woman fighting him back. She had been training all of her life for this moment. This was one of her skills she hoped she never had to use ever but was thankful that she knew exactly what to do in this certain situation. The man was caught off guard, and that's when Cate broke into action. She took her right hand and shoved her palm right into his nose with all of her might. She didn't even wince once when she heard the bone snap. His nose began to bleed immediately which caught him off guard, and all he could do was hold his nose and double over from the pain. "You fucking bitch! " said in the middle of an agonizing wail.

She took a step back away from him to gauge the situation. She didn't know if he had a gun or a knife on him. She could feel her heart beating harder than it's ever had before, and even though she was terrified of the situation, she screamed out, "HELP. HELP ME PLEASE." Even though she wasn't the one who needed the help, she hoped there was someone outside who was a late owl like her who heard her. The man, however still tried to reach for Cate even with blood streaming down his face and onto his shirt. Cate was pretty fast on her feet and scooted back almost the same second she saw him reach for her. When he swiped his arms in front of him as if to grab her all he was met with was air. She placed her hands on shoulders and brought her foot up to kick him directly in the knee. This caused him to fall down finally! He fell down on his knees.

Cate took his golden opportunity to retrieve her keys from the front of her pocket to pull it out as she started to sprint toward her car. She managed to glance over her shoulder to gauge whether or not the man was standing up or running toward her. He wasn't. He was still on the ground. She turned her head back straight ahead and began to run a bit faster to her car. She knew better than to be outside so late.

Once she got into the car it took her a few minutes to regain her composure. She's never been in a situation like this before. It's one thing to teach a class and give out different scenarios of what might happen if you find yourself in the middle of something, but to actually experience was another thing. She needed a moment. She made sure all of the locks in her car was hit, and turned it on just in case she needed to speed away. She kept her fingertips curled around the steering wheel and looked over in the area where she had just fought that man. Was he still there? He was. In fact, she watched him slowly stand up from off of his knees and start to limp away slowly in the opposite of the direction of where she was parked. It made her smile slightly to herself. She was oddly proud of herself for standing up for herself.

The ride home felt like it took forever. She loved driving back home when it was late. There was anyone hardly on the road, which is what she liked. She was about thirty minutes away from home, and her heart was still beating as fast as it was when she first ran into that guy. She couldn't decipher if it were her nerves or if she was just scared about what just happened. Either way, she was excited to be on her way home.

"Just stay on the phone with me." She said as she called instructed her car to call his number. She knew that he was a night owl just like her and if anyone was going to be up at this time to keep her company it would be him. She needed someone to calm her nerves, or at least remain on the phone with her until she was able to get home safely. He didn't hesitate in for a single second to be her backbone. She began to recall the incident back to him and he had the ability to make her laugh when she got to the point in the conversation when she told him about breaking his nose. "That's fucking right!," she said before she continued on, "He didn't see it coming. That'll teach him to pick on women."

"Hang on, I'm switching to my phone." She accidentally disconnected the call when she shut the car off, but it only took three seconds for her phone to start ringing. She let out a soft sigh when she answered the phone and heard his calming voice on the other end. He told her he wasn't going to let her go until he knew she was safe and sound in her apartment. It was sweet. She barely shows her softer side with anyone, but with him, it was easy to let the guard down.
